Sarah Chalke is one of comedies greatest actresses, more famous for her role as Dr Elliot Reed in the 9 seasons of Scrubs, after a few appearances in Cougar Town Chalke is back in the lead role as a divorcee who has moved home after her marriage has ended. With her young daughter in tow, they move back to her crazy parents house Elaine (Elizabeth Perkins) and Max (Brad Garrett) who play a crazy, cooky elderly parents who have no boundaries or censor.
The pilot episode basically sets the scene as to what is happening with the show and the history of these crazy characters. All of which are intriguing with their own quirks and style of humour that just makes this show work. A lot of comedies have fallen flat this season and this is the start of the summer series with shows that the networks are unsure about. If this is anything to go by, hopefully the show will grow and become a winner.
Chalke shines as the lead in this show and really commands the screen and identifies herself as a completely different character from Dr Reed. Perkins and Garrett are the perfect parents, their dysfunction is so in sync and the two are hilarious to watch.
If you are looking for a great comedy show to start watching this summer definitely check out How To Live With Your Parents.
