So this week we’ve got more on The Office’s spinoff The Farm, a jump from the big screen to TV for Beverly Hills Cop, a look at the New Doctor Whomini-series Pond Life and most excitingly news of the Avengers based TV show S.H.I.E.L.D.
But before we launch into it, I’d just like to apologise for a lack of posts this week, I’ve been quite ill this week so today I’ll be posting the reviews I’ve been unable to plus some extra content to make up for it.
The Farm
So the upcoming spinoff owned of course by NBC has pulled in another talented comedian/actor Matt Jones, better known for his portrayal of Badger in Breaking Bad. He’s slated to play Zeke, the cousin of Rainn Wilson’s Dwight Shrute.
Jones is joining Majandra Delfino, Thomas Middleditch and Blake Garrett as newcomers to the Shrute Family.
Beverly Hills Cop
At the end of last year it was reported that Eddie Murphy was interested in turning The Beverly Hills Cop in a television series. A few days ago it was announced that the project is in fact going ahead.
The creator of The Shield Shawn Ryan will be producing the series alongside Murphy and Song Pictures Television.
Murphy will return to his former role as Axel Foley as a guest star, but the focus of the series will be on the character’s police officer son.
“Axel is the Chief of Police now in Detroit” Murphy said last October. Murphy indicated that he’d take part in the pilot and occasionally crop up in the show from time to time.
The premise of the show has been suggested to run along the lines of an hour long police procedural which, as the film did, will blend comedy and action together.
Dr Who
With the seventh series of the modern Dr Who launching tomorrow in both the US and UK, The BBC is giving fans a warm up with a five part web series titled Pond Life that kicked off on the 27th. A new episode was launched every day. I’ll post the link below for those interested.
The premise of Pond Life is that whilst en route to visit the Ponds, the TARDIS’ Helmic Regulator malfunctions, leaving the Dr appearing everywhere in time and space.
The cast features the Doctor, Rory, Amy and some familiar faces from episodes past.
The Avengers: S.H.I.E.L.D
And now for the news that really excites me, Disney has fulfilled the promise their CEO Robert Iger made when he announced Joss Whedon would create a Marvel Tv series for ABC. The series is to be called “S.H.I.E.L.D”
Orders for the series Pilot episode have been given, with the Avengers writer on board as co-writer for the series.
The story/plot of the series is to revolve around the secret military law enforcement agency S.H.I.E.L.D which as all Avengers fans know stands for Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistic Directorate.
So Whedon is on board to co-pen the pilot alongside his brother Jed Whedon and Jed’s wife Maurissa Tancharoen. If his schedule allows Joss Whedon will direct the pilot.
